NEWS STORY: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT AT RYNEX

As part of a continuing investment in Research and Development Rynex Engineering is the prime partner of the Aquaturb project being undertaken by a top research team at Heriot-Watt University.

The two-year project that runs through to the end of April 2001 has produced some very interesting results with commercial possibilities. The product under development is the Aquaturb, a mini-turbine that produces a high-density spray plume of fine droplets of fluid without the need for a separate pressurised air supply. The resulting spray plume has a number of immediate potential applications including Industrial flue gas scrubbing, spray drying of powders and general liquid deposition.

The system has a number of significant benefits including:

  • Lower initial investment in plant & equipment than for a conventional system
  • Lower running costs
  • No separate pressurised air-supply needed
  • Several commercial applications already identified
